Kumari (2022)

Image
Kumari is an Indian horror movie that came out in 2022 in the langauge of malayalam. How I watched: Netflix For the short of it: A woman gets married to the descendant of a man who is responsible for his village being cursed AF. The long of it? Yo well have I got a good one for you today! Well idk I guess it depends where your perception is at. Kumari is named after our main character who is said to be an orphan for this family. So one day like totally out of the blue her uncle is like "You know what? I'll think I'll marry you off to this wealthy family so go TF over there. K bye." Off she goes. This goes without saying but she has no idea who this dude is but word on the street (by that I mean her bro) is that the man she is about to marry is a bit of an odd duck if you know what I mean. There is apparently a stigma surrounding him. Dude's name is Dhruvan. The thing about Dhruvan's family though is that what we need to do here is go back back

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

Image
Cannibal Holocaust is an Italian found footage film that came out in 1980 in the language of English and Spanish. How I watched: AMC+ channel on Amazon Prime Video Disclaimer: If you are already aware of this movie then skip my post lol I provide nothing profound. New to this movie? I highly suggest you to check out   Ryan Hollinger's   video on it. He breaks it down better than me. And this dude said it himself he doesn't even like this movie. Just here to write a post just to say I watched it. Don't care about either of the above? Then read on... For the short of it: This movie is about filmmakers who go missing and eerie found footage reveals their fates. The long of it? Get ready, man. I get it, this is a very well known film and at the same time gets a lot of both praise and ire. You either really like it or really don't. Why did I pick such a "mainstream" movie? Idk but here I am. Just wanted to get this one out of the way plus, it IS a

The Hypnosis (2021)

Image
The Hypnosis is a South Korean horror movie that came out in 2021 in the language of Korean. How I watched: Tubi For the short of it: This movie is about a college guy who undergoes hypnosis for thr LOLs but him and his friends get plagued with frightening visions. The long of it: As you know, Tubi itself is such a great source of legit free and foreign movies of all genres might as well throw in tv shows for extra credit. They do go through a lot of titles frequently so that means many expire so that new ones can come in. They usually cycle back to Tubi so that the cycle may repeat itself. My point in saying this is that I only chose to pick The Hypnosis as my next viewing is solely on the fact that it was due to be leaving Tubi in 3-ish days. Some titles come back way sooner than others and I decided I did not want to take that chance with this one and went out ahead and tuned in. The Hypnosis centers around a group of friends in college, the main character

Calvaire (2004)

Image
Calvaire is a French psychological horror movie that came out in 2004 in the language of french.  How I watched: AMC+ channel via Amazon Prime Video For the short of it: The long of it? Trigger Warning: animal abuse A handsome dude named Marc Stevens is an entertainer that travels as a part of his one man show to various locations. He's a talented singer, yo. He is seen at the beginning performing at a nursing home in which everyone seems to take a liking to him. A great scene was when he was singing to one of the women there, she mistakens it for realsies and throws herself at him but obviously is unrequited. So, uh, not a great scene afterall. I really feel for her. It was just a scene to show how charismatic Marc is and how everyone swoons over him.  As if that wasn't enough, an employee of the nursing home shadows his ass while he is packing to go. She's more his age but just like the first one, her advances are also unrequited. She's lik

Zalava (2021)

Image
Zalava is an Iranian horror drama movie that came out in 2021 in the languages of kurdish and persian. How I watched: Rental on Amazon Prime Video For the short of it: Guy searches for answers that a village claims there is a demon amongst them. The long of it?  You know, I usually like to stick to watching movies that are either free or a part of the handful of streaming services I already pay for (which is a lot, not gonna lie). It almost feels like it defeats the purpose of spending $$$ on a movie when I have so many options at my disposal. Truth be known, some foreign movies are just simply not accessible to the modern American such as myself. The legit way. However, this is an exception. One of the few movies I spent money on. I was just in the mood for a good Iranian movie. Feels like it's been way too long. So here I am. Zalava is a film about this man named Masoud Ahmadi who is the gendarmarie (a fancy term for rural police) for a village that is Zalava in the

Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment (1985)

Image
Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment is a Japanese found footage horror film that came out in 1986 in the language of Japanese. How I watched: Youtube For the short of it: Lots of le torture.  The long of it? Uhhh.... Happy  Terrible Tuesday . You're going to need it because this entry is going to be a doozy! As a preface, I stated in my Trauma post that I intend to go down a personal list of various movies I see frequented in r/DisturbingFilms and majority are actually held in high esteem. So I guess I am sharing with you my current journey of that so...thanks for joining me?  I already watched Trauma and it was a very difficult watch. Fucking hell that was oh so hard to get through. Next movie is Guinea Pig series starting with the #1 which is called Devil's Experiment. Even though I didn't know at all about this movie I always was overcome with a sense of dread each time I came across that title which is why I took my sweet ass time to seek it out.
