Bulbbul (2020)

Image
Bulbbul is an Indian thriller that came out in 2020 in the language of Hindi. How I watched: Netflix For the short of it: This movie is about a series of murders plaguing the village which also unveils the forbidden history between 2 people who were never meant to be.  The long of it? Buckle up, buttercup. Because this is a Netflix exclusive, I will discuss spoilers due to their new policy of preventing password sharing that is slowly being rolled out. I watch so you won't have to! Taking place in the 19th century a young girl named Bulbbul has an arranged marriage to Indranil who is of royal blood and also hella older than her! Ew. Her life gets flipped upside down and she now has to embrace a new life married off to some old man and live in this estate with the rest of his family. There is another woman who is apparently married to Indranil's twin brother, Mahandra, who is...mentally challenged. She begins to have a playful relationship with Satya whom

Caveat (2020)

Image
Caveat is an Irish horror film that came out in 2020 in the language of English. How I watched: AMC+ channel subscription via Amazon Prime For the short of it, Caveat is about a dude who persuades another dude for a pseudo babysitting job but is withholding impertinent info. The long of it? Well... The movie starts off immediately with a man named Moe talking to this scruffy looking fellow named Isaac saying that he tried looking for him. For reasons unknown, he claims to not remember this fool. A lot he doesn't remember, actually. Regardless, this movie gets straight to the point where Moe asks Isaac for a wee bit favor for him to keep his adult niece company at this isolated house for a few days. Even though Isaac doesn't have the sharpest memory, he still questions why the fuck he would ask him though and why not Moe go instead?? Moe doesn't answer some of these questions but just persuades him to go anyway. Holy shit though WAIT this house just s

Felidae (1994)

Image
Felidae is a German animated thriller/horror film that came out in 1994 in the language of German. Based on the book of the same name by Akif Pirinçci that is part of a series. How I Watched:  Youtube   (Remember to click closed captioning)  English Dub  available if you don't want to read subs.  You know how you look back in your life and remember that one kids movie and still get taken aback how dark and scary it was? Oh, I doubt it was only one! A lot of kids movies especially from my time growing up in in the 90s there are PLENTY of dark themes to movies marketed to kids. I will say that Felidae is NOT a kids movie and I would be hella shocked if it ever was one due to the nature of it.  I did catch this movie on Youtube as linked above and reading through the comment section apparently a lot of people watched this as CHILDREN! Uh What?! I absolutely would never allow my kid to watch this movie. As a teen? I mean, sure. Enough blabbering. For the short of it, Felida

Inang (2022)

Image
Inang is an Indonesian horror movie that came out in 2022 in the language of Indonesian. Translates to: The Womb. How I watched: Netflix For the short of it: This movie centers around a young expectantly newly pregnant mother living in a low income area. The baby's father wants nothing to do with her. She decides live with these elderly married couple who want to adopt her child. But WHY?! The long of it? Well... Wulan is her name. You pronounce exactly like Mulan but with a "W". Anyway, the story is set up quite depressing right from the get go that she finds out she is pregnant and after she informs the father of the baby, he ain't about that life. Tosses her some money to terminate the pregnancy and rides away and out of her life. Unfortunately, Wulan lives in poverty. She is months behind on her rent and has a job at a local grocery store with a pervy boss. She does have at least one friend that also works there. They both have very polariz

Ammar (2020)

Image
Ammar is an Egyptian horror movie that came out in 2020 in the language of Arabic.  How I watched: Netflix You know, call me uncultured but I literally had NO IDEA there was a such thing as an Egyptian horror movie. I only came across this while browsing the international section of Netflix. Might as well watch as much as I can on Netflix as I may end up severing this loveless relationship due to their new implements to cut down on password sharing. I personally pay for mine but I do share with only my small family (and we live states away LOL)  Yo, I digress so let's get into the movie! So this movie is about a  man that moves his family to this fancy ass mansion of a house. Him, his wife and his three kids ranging in ages from elementary age to high school age. Things start off lovely and in obvious admiration of this beautiful home . Guess how long this lasts? So they have these house cleaners whom are also husband and wife that are quickly introduced. Ho

The Figurine: Araromire (2009)

Image
The Figurine: Araromire is a Nigerian supernatural thriller movie that came out in 2009 in the languages of Yoruba and English. How I watched: Netflix Have I got a good one for you today. By good I mean by Nigerian standards. For the short of it, this movie is about 2 guys who find a morbid looking figurine that has an attached myth to it. Once touched, you will have 7 years of good luck followed by 7 years of extreme bad luck. Hilarity ensues. By that I mean by nothing at all. The long of it? Meet Femi and Sola. Bestest of pals!!!!! I think so, anyway. They both find themselves joining the National Service Youth Corps which was where Femi was going to miraculously propose to some chick that he hasn't seen in forever. Mona. So during this training thing is going on in the middle of the forest, Femi's asthma starts acting up and in combination of the rain, they both take refuge in a cave where they find this figurine. They're like WTF but get out with

Grotesque (2004)

Image
Grotesque is a Japanese exploitation horror film that came out in 2004. How I watched: Tubi For the short of it: Surgeon abducts and tortures a young couple. The long of it? *Sideshow bob groan* Not gonna lie, I've been avoiding this movie for a long time. I originally saw this movie months ago and was so put off by this movie, I just shelved it. Wished I wrote up the post at least! However, I thought I was desensitized enough to watch this movie again. So here I am.  Will talk about majority of the movie so you were warned, bruh! This will be a rather shorter post today because there simply isn't a whole to say about it and my dwindling cognitive abilities make it even harder to write anything anymore. Starting off without a hitch, this creepy ass guy is in your stereotypical kidnapper white van lurking in the shadows. As if it couldn't get any more textbook cheesy. A young couple just so happen to go walking through this tunnel and they literally d
