The Cannibal Club is a Brazillian movie that came out in 2018. 

How I watched: Tubi

I honestly don't know what to label this movie as. The Tubi description had this movie under Horror/Comedy. I can guarantee you this is NOT a comedy. I think I chuckled once and it was a smart ass remark from one of the characters. Not sure if this qualifies as horror? It's definitely full of raunchy ass gore I can say that much! And I mean that literally.

This movie follows a wealthy childless husband and wife who live in a seaside mansion that has a horrible fetish for luring their live-in handsome male caretakers to be seduced by the wife while the husband secretly masturbates to and right before he climaxes, he barges in the room to bash his head in. They later eat the remains for dinner or whatever. This movie really cut to the chase lol Definitely the opposite of a slow burner in my opinion. With an endless supply of desperate men's need to work, Otavio and Gilda effortlessly get away with their upper-class debauchery. Just a taste since Otavio is in his own elite rich men slaughter club.

Things take a weird turn when Otavio throws a party at his house and Gilda stumbles upon Borges, Otavio's superior, getting plowed by the security guard in a back house. The next day, Gilda gently confronts Borges in his office making it a point to say that she will take his secret to her grave. HOWEVER Borges, this mothafucka, plays oblivious and claims not to know what she is talking about. Pendejo refuses to admit despite being caught with his pants down! Fake it til you make it, I guess.

So Gilda confides in her husband and thinks all is dandy but Otavio is like FUCK THAT. He's seen how calculated and evil this man his (oh, he's one to talk!) and firmly believes that he will seek revenge on them. So they make their plans...

I can't give away all the tea now but yeah this movie is absurd. 

It's absolutely one of those movies about the elite preying on the lower class for sure but this movie definitely makes it a million times more gross about it. There's a handful of sex scenes but the thing about it is that it seems like it's almost overly raunchy compared to other depictions in movies. The lingering shots of the constant gyrations even down to the sweaty butt cheeks. A bit TMI. I get it, they're fucking now move on to the other scene for crying out loud!

Overall, I thought this movie was okay. I don't think this is a rewatchable movie for me, personally. It was totally predictable and just so much happening in such a limited time span. Seen it once and I don't think I want to see it again. I felt like the movie probably should have been longer to put a little more focus on certain other plot points because that ending felt way too rushed. If they were going to be like that, I felt it may have been better as a movie short or something. 

I think this movie could have been a lot better but it was an interesting take on the elite taking advantage of the poor kind of thing.

Disclaimers? Plenty of gore. Lots of nipples. Far away shot of old man balls. Totally unnecessary part of Otavio climaxing in the same pool of blood of the poor fella he butchered. I gag. 

With that being said, what is my verdict?

The Paper Dolls is a Chinese horror movie that came out in 2023 in the language of chinese mandarin. This movie goes by multiple titles, see the end of my post for elaboration. How I watched:  Tubi For the short of it: A journalist researches the truth behind the deadly paper doll folklore. The long of it? Have your clean set of chonies handy... Lovely day to have eyes, I tell ya what. This is why it pays off to have a cool looking movie poster because this absolutely stuck out to my ADHD ass for my next viewing and boy oh boy I am totes glad I did choose this. So this movie is centered around a journalist named Lu Xiaosheng who is researching the folklore surrounding paper dolls whom has the superstition one's soul can be inhabited post mortem. Some 20 years ago there was an old tale connecting the Qiao family and these paper dolls with a very frightening and murderous history.
