Seoul Station (2016)
Seoul Station is a South Korean zombie flick that came out in 2016. It is a Prequel to Train to Busan (nope, haven't seen it yet but definitely will because of this.)
Imagine a homeless man walking through the streets. I'm sure we all have at least a few times in our lives. This man is unfortunately a little sicky. Like, everywhere. Because he turned into a fucking ZOMBIE. I guess you don't have to imagine because that's the intro.
We are then shown Hye-sun, she is a former prostitute who ran away from a brothel into the loving arms of Ki-woong. By that I mean he's kinda an asshole. She found out he put her sex ad online and they split because of it. The so called man that was to meet with Hye-sun is dun dun DUN her dad that was actually trying to look for her this whole time!! But holy shit the zombie outbreak has taken over!
So basically the whole movie is her trying to survive and reunite with Ki-woong and her father who begrudgingly have to stick together so they can both find their loved one.
I don't know about you but over the years I have been REALLY burned out of zombie movies and shows. Blame The Walking Dead mostly but I am just so over zombie media. I don't despise it because I still do view it but definitely not fangirling as much as I used to. Just like my choice to make a horror blog, zombies is pretty oversaturated. However, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed Seoul Station, actually. It's far from perfect but I feel this captures the essence of zombie flicks to a degree. The characters were well written and while I was initially bummed out on the style of animation for this movie, I almost just as quickly changed my mind as soon as the hoard of zombies came to fruition. There appears to be cgi or combo of animation. Idk I'm definitely not well versed to know this shit but it definitely is levels above the standard stuff I usually watch. I found the movements a little jerky but obviously this served the purpose extremely well for the zombies. As for the storyline, it has actual substance and depth to it in a way I didn't expect it to. As depressing as this movie was, I am absolutely pleased with the ending. That's all I'm going to say.
So if this movie has a message what would it be? How should I know? It's a zombie movie!
Absolutely no disclaimers for this movie.
And I would think this movie is for mature teens and above since there's some crude sex talk but nothing too serious.
That being said, what is the verdict on this movie?
5/5 Would watch again bruh.
